Woman fined for working as a prostitute

A Menomonie area woman has been fined for working as a prostitute.

39-year old Nicole Plunkett from the Town of Menomonie pleaded no contest in Eau Claire County Court this week to a misdemeanor count of prostitution. She has been fined $443.

According to the criminal complaint, an Eau Claire officer was checking ads for prostitution January 29th on Backpage.com. The officer found an ad that contained a picture of a partially dressed woman, who the officer recognized as Plunkett, who he had previously arrested 3 different times. The officer responded to Plunkett’s ad, and arranged to meet her for sexual services for $200. The officer arrested Plunkett after they met later that day. Plunkett said she does not have a job, and is working as a prostitute to make money. She was no interested in receiving any help to help get out of prostitution, and she is freely choosing to work as one. She also said she is no longer struggling with a meth addiction.
